Go International Bavaria — market entry for Bavarian SMEs

What it is. What it isn't. And how I deliver it.

Bavarian SMEs can have their entry into new international markets co-funded through the Go International programme. My services for market entry, site search and business-partner search may be eligible — with a focus on Italy, Portugal and Latin America.

Regional focus

From Franconia into new markets

My focus is on SMEs in the greater Nuremberg area and across Franconia. Funding is granted regionally through each company's local chamber of commerce — for Middle Franconia, that is the IHK Nürnberg. If you're checking whether your company and target market fit the criteria, talk to your chamber and to me early.

What it is

  • A grant for Bavarian SMEs — not for me as consultant.
  • Up to 40% of eligible costs, max. €30,000 per target country.
  • For up to two new countries you have not previously operated in.
  • For market entry, site search, partner search, trade fairs, training.
  • Applied for through your local chamber of commerce via the Außenwirtschaftszentrum Bayern.

What it isn't

  • No funding for travel costs, investments, running costs or staff costs.
  • No funding for domestic recruiting.
  • Not a programme for countries where you already do business.
  • No legal entitlement — the chamber of commerce and/or BIHK-Service GmbH decide alone.

Do you fit the criteria?

SME criteria at a glance

Rough orientation only — the binding assessment is always made by your local chamber.

  • Fewer than 250 employees
  • Turnover ≤ €50M (or balance sheet ≤ €43M)
  • No corporate group holds more than 25%
  • Operating site in Bavaria
  • Target country new for you

My services within the programme

What I actually deliver

Three modules — bookable individually, often stronger in combination.

Market entry & analysis

Sizing the target market: competition, talent density, regulation, customer structures. A clear recommendation on whether and how entry stands up.

Site search

Concrete properties, authority contacts, negotiation — on site and in the local language. Italy, Portugal, Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico.

Business-partner search

Distributors, sales partners, technical partners. From 20+ years of DAX network plus local presence — not from a database.

How it runs

From first call to application

  1. 01

    Free intro call

30 minutes. We clarify target country, plan, timeline and whether funding is realistic.

  2. 02

    Offer & scope of work

I prepare an offer with a clear scope of work you can submit to your chamber with the application.

  3. 03

    Application by you

You submit the funding application yourself via your local chamber. I supply supporting documents and am available for questions.

  4. 04

    Delivery after approval

Delivery starts only after approval. Cleanly documented so settlement with the chamber runs smoothly.

Eligible categories

The categories in which I can work for you

Within the programme, specific service categories are eligible. These are the ones I concretely support:

Market entry & analysis

Target-market assessment, competitor and customer analysis, go/no-go recommendation.

Site search & set-up

Properties, authorities, negotiation — on site in Italy, Portugal, Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico.

Business-partner search

Identification and outreach to distributors, sales and technology partners.

Intercultural preparation

Training and coaching for your team ahead of market entry — in the local language.

Trade-fair participation abroad

Preparation, meeting scheduling and on-site support at trade fairs in the target market.

Building the local team

Recruiting the first key roles on the ground — site lead, sales, production.

Not every category is eligible in every application — the concrete scope is agreed with your chamber.

My role

I build. I don't consult."

I deliver: find the site, identify partners, build the first team. What I do not do: decide about your funding. That is entirely up to the chamber of commerce and BIHK-Service GmbH.

Timing

Acting early pays off

Funding budgets are capped annually and drawn down at different speeds regionally. If you're planning in the greater Nuremberg area, speak with the IHK Nürnberg early — and sharpen the project with me in parallel so the application is ready when the next window opens.

Important note

My services for market entry, site search and partner search may be eligible under the Bavarian Go International funding programme. The chamber of commerce and/or BIHK-Service GmbH alone decide on funding and amount — there is no legal entitlement. This page is not legal or funding advice.
